In-Ear Monitor Rigs for Touring Bands

Per-performer wireless IEMs, properly-fed mic splits, antenna distros, and a PDF patch sheet your venue advance can read.

Touring IEM rigs live and die by their mic split. Every channel that your monitor world hears has to also hit FOH cleanly, and every transmitter on the rack has to share a tightly-coordinated RF spectrum without intermod. The IEM Rig planner models the whole chain — preamp to splitter to console to wireless transmitter to bodypack receiver to ear — so the BOM and patch sheet you hand the venue is the same plan that drove the design.

Antenna distribution is the second piece that catches working bands out. Six PSM1000 transmitters with their stock paddle antennas spaced incorrectly will fight each other faster than the local FM radio. The catalog includes Shure UA845+SWB, RF Venue antenna gear, and Wisycom combiners with channel counts modeled so the wiring engine knows when you need a second distro for the IEM count.

What this rig needs

  • One wireless IEM channel per performer (PSM1000, EW IEM, or Wisycom)
  • Mic split feeding both FOH and monitor world without channel loss
  • Antenna distribution and combiners with sized RF coordination
  • Power conditioning + UPS protection for the bus voltage spikes
  • A patch sheet that the rental shop, venue, and freelance covers can all read

How IEM Rig helps

  • Auto-wire builds the FOH/monitor split and IEM transmitter feeds in one click
  • Per-performer transmitter pairing checks that bodypack receivers match
  • Power calculator flags the moment your rack will trip a 15A circuit
  • PDF patch sheet exports with port-by-port wiring + the full bill of materials
  • Public gallery lets you remix rigs from working touring engineers
