About the AC Infinity CLOUDPLATE T7

The AC Infinity CLOUDPLATE T7 is a smart 1U rack fan panel with built-in temperature sensing and an LCD display that shows real-time thermal data. The fans automatically adjust speed based on temperature, running quietly when things are cool and ramping up when needed, which means less noise during quieter moments in a show. At a lower price than the Middle Atlantic equivalent, it offers excellent value for active rack cooling.

Rack cooling is easy to ignore until a power amp throttles back mid-show or a wireless unit starts dropping because the chassis is too hot to think straight. The CLOUDPLATE T7 is AC Infinity's answer to that problem: a 1U fan panel with built-in temperature sensing, an LCD readout showing real-time thermal data, and automatic speed control that scales fan RPM to actual heat load. It sits at the top or rear of a rack and moves air out, buying headroom for everything else running below it.

At 15W nominal draw and 20W max, it costs almost nothing on your power budget, and the 30mm depth means it won't fight for room in a shallow road case. The automatic speed control is genuinely useful in live contexts — during a quiet acoustic set the fans slow down and drop noise floor, then ramp back up between songs or when the amp rack starts working harder. The LCD gives you a real temperature number rather than a vague blinking light, so you can actually see whether your rack is running warm before it becomes a problem.

If you're running any kind of dense 1U touring rack — wireless receivers, IEM transmitters, power amps, playback systems — this belongs in your build, especially in venues with poor backline airflow or hot stage environments. At $69 it's hard to argue against it on budget grounds. Where it doesn't make sense: a sparse two-piece rack where nothing is thermally stressed, or a situation requiring active pressure management with ducted airflow, where you'd want something purpose-engineered for that architecture.

In the rack

  • Mount it as the top 1U of the rack so it exhausts rising hot air directly out — putting it in the middle just recirculates heat onto whatever sits above it.
  • Use the LCD temperature reading as a baseline during soundcheck and check it again midway through the show; a significant climb tells you the rack needs more clearance or the load is higher than you planned for.
  • The IEC input means it pulls from your rack's power strip rather than needing a dedicated circuit — plug it into a switched outlet if your strip has one so you can spin the fans down during broadcast-sensitive moments.
  • In fly rigs or rental situations where rack depth is tight, the 30mm panel depth makes this a practical fit in cases where a deeper fan assembly simply won't close.
