The depth accommodates most single-rack-unit IEMIn-Ear Monitor — earpieces that replace floor wedges, feeding each player their own mix. The reason this whole rack exists. gear without gear hanging out the back, and the molded shell keeps the overall footprint honest enough that airlines with generous checked-bag dimensions won't flag it immediately — though you should measure against your carrier's policy before assuming anything. The front and rear rails are standard 19-inch, so you're not fighting any proprietary mounting. What you are managing is the tradeoff inherent to molded poly: it flexes more than plywood-and-hardware construction, which means you want gear secured with proper rack screws and ideally some foam padding on anything fragile.
