Stage gear and the laptop

Not everything bolts into rails — laptops, wedges, and tabletop units live on stage.

Some gear isn’t rack-mountable — a MacBook, earphones, a tabletop stagebox mixer. The planner treats those as stage gear: they sit in the world around the rack instead of inside it, and they wire up exactly like everything else.

  • The laptop rests on top of the case (it magnetizes to the lid — drag it left or right along the top). If the rig has no computer yet, a dashed Add Computer ghost marks the spot; one click adds a MacBook Pro with its USB-C dongle and real ports.
  • Wearables like IEM earphones don’t occupy rack space at all — they appear in the BOM and wire to your bodypack.
  • Stage gear’s I/O appears on the Back view like any rack unit, so the laptop’s Thunderbolt and the stagebox’s XLRs are all wireable.
