The Furman P-8 PRO C is a 1U power conditioner built around a 20-amp rating, which is the detail that separates it from the more common 15-amp units in the same rack-mount form factor. Its job is straightforward: clean incoming AC, protect downstream gear from surges and spikes via Furman's SMP+ multi-stage filtering, and distribute that power cleanly across eight rear-mounted outlets. In a monitor rig or IEM rack loaded with transmitters, a UPS, and a handful of other draws, this is the foundation everything else sits on.

The 20-amp rating is the practical headline here. A dense IEM rack — say, four or more dual-channel transmitter packs, a personal monitor mixer, a router, and a UPS — can quietly push past what a 15-amp conditioner can safely handle, especially at power-on inrush. The P-8 PRO C gives you the headroom to stop worrying about that math. The eight rear outlets are enough for a legitimately full rack without daisy-chaining strips. Be clear about what the P-8 PRO C is not: it is not a voltage regulator and not a UPS. A sustained brownout will still affect your gear. It protects against surges and filters noise; stable voltage and battery backup require separate solutions.

In the rack

  • Verify the venue circuit is actually 20A before relying on that headroom — plug into a 15A breaker and you've negated the unit's advantage the moment inrush hits.
  • Place it at the bottom of the rack if your rack has a hinged rear door; all eight outlets exit the rear and you'll want clear cable-routing access without fighting other gear.
  • Map your outlet assignments before load-in: put anything with a high inrush draw (UPS, amplifier) on separate outlets and stagger power-on sequence to avoid a combined spike that could trip the breaker upstream.
  • The P-8 PRO C draws zero watts itself, so it won't inflate your rack's power budget calculations — account only for the gear plugged into it.
